In their natural habitats in South America, neons live in very nutrient-poor blackwater biotopes and are dependent on small bite-sized plankton. With a protein/fat ratio of 6.5:1, the natural diet of small characin species is taken into account. Their food, mainly plankton animals, is filled with vegetable ingredients. JBL PRONOVO NEON therefore also contains a relatively large amount of vegetable ingredients. The proportion of insect protein fits in perfectly with their diet, as insect larvae form part of their food spectrum.

The right food size:

A very important aspect of correct feeding is the right food size for the mouth. It is especially important with small fish species that the animals get the food morsels into their mouths, as they cannot bite pieces off. If you are unsure when faced with two food sizes, always choose the smaller one. Predatory fish species cope much better with larger food chunks, as “too large” food chunks are also included in their food spectrum.
